Innovation, Sustainability and Circular Economy: Italmatch featured on Forbes

Sustainability is the heart of Italmatch Chemicals’ strategy, proving that technological innovation and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.

In an interview with Forbes our Group CEO and Founder Sergio Iorio shared how the chemical industry, often perceived harmful to the environment, is instead a driving force for a truly circular economy.

“Chemistry is present in 95% of industrial products and plays a crucial role in many sectors that impact positively our daily lives, including detergents, pharmaceuticals, food, construction, electronics and textiles. With a dedicated team of around 100 people, we continuously invest in research and development to optimize processes, promote circular solutions and reduce our environmental footprint” said Sergio Iorio.

In addition, the Group is actively engaged in innovative projects aimed at improving production efficiency and lowering environmental impact through smarter resource management.  One such initiative is the IPCEI – European Battery Innovation project, which aims to establish a strong European value chain for electric batteries. Within this framework, the company is contributing by providing key raw materials and by leading a work packages focused on the circular economy.

Another initiative is FlashPhos, a European consortium coordinated by the University of Stuttgart. The project is dedicated to recovering elemental phosphorus from municipal and industrial waste, to promote resource circularity. The Group is the main technological partner, leveraging its expertise and long-standing know-how in the sector.
